Description of the Sulfuric Anodizing Process:

The Anodizing process forms an oxide film, which grows from the base aluminum part as an integral part of the metal. When the Anodizing process is properly applied, it will yield a hard, corrosion and abrasion resistant anodized coating with excellent wear properties. The anodizing process coating may also be colored using numerous different methods.

In the Anodizing process, porous oxides are created and they eventually develop pores throughout the Anodizing process. These pores are essential in allowing the dyes in the coloring process to be absorbed. The pores are then sealed keeping the color in the pores. This is accomplished utilizing different sealing techniques.

Colored Anodized Aluminum is used in a variety of applications ranging from automotive trim, motor sports, giftware, and medical, architectural, pharmaceutical and even the novelty industries. Many colors can be achieved after Anodizing including, red, blue, purple, black, gold, green and many other colors.

Please note that different alloys play a significant part in the final result derived from the Anodizing process. Results will vary from alloy to alloy after Anodizing.
